Hair Extensions

We are the premier Hair Extension Salon in the SF Bay Area.  We offer a fully customized Hair Extension Experience.  We will analyze your hair, your hair type, density, and your lifestyle.  We will then make a suggestion based on your needs. Our extension specialists are experienced in all types of Hair Extension installations, such as Hand-Tied (also known as Habit Method or Natural Beaded Rows ), IBE, Secret Bead Method, Tape-In, Beaded Weft, Keratin Bonded, and I-Tip Individuals.  Our goal is to make sure you have the very best extension wearing experience.  We want to make sure that your extensions look and feel as great as the day you left the salon...everyday!  We work hard to educate our guests so they feel comfortable and confident when they wear their extensions and when they care for them!

Hair extensions are a luxury service, they should be treated that way!

Our hair extension specialists are experienced and highly trained in not only installing your hair extensions, but also custom coloring the extensions and your hair to not only match but to look natural.   The most important part of installing hair extensions is creating hair color that blends and looks natural.  Here at Morgan James Salon, we specialize in low-maintenance color and we love to create gorgeous, "lived-in" hair color.  If you are thinking about getting hair extensions or are curious if they might work for your hair, schedule a complimentary consultation with one of our extension specialists.

Hair Extensions are expensive. In order to protect and extend the life of your extensions, we recommend the following care:

  • Always Wash with sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. (preferably moisture based)

  • Use a lightweight oil on the mid to ends of the hair at least once a day.  Keep oil off the root area of hair.

  • Letting your hair air-dry is great, but make sure to blow dry the tape area to ensure no moisture leaks into the adhesive, causing lifting.

  • Put your hair into a low pony or braid when sleeping.  This will protect the cuticle of the hair.

  • Sleep on a silk pillowcase, again this cares for the cuticle of the hair.

  • Brush your extensions with a WET Brush or special Extension brush ALWAYS!  Hold the hair near the root area and brush from the ends of your hair moving upward.

  • Brush a few times a day to prevent tangling.  The more brushing the better.

  • When swimming, coat your hair in conditioner before entering the water and wear in a braid, low pony, high bun, or even better throw a hat on!.

  • If you are wearing tape-in extensions; Do not apply conditioner near the tape area. This will cause the adhesive to fail and they will come out.

  • Be aware, saltwater and chlorine WILL strip hair of color and moisture, and can shorten the life of hair extensions.

  • You do not want to "ball up" or "scrunch up" your hair like a child when washing.  You want to stroke the hair in a downward motion, being gentle but still getting them clean.  You may massage your scalp with your fingertips but you want to keep it gentle.  There is no need to scrub.  This will diminish the life of your hair and mostly likely cause tangling.

  • For the TAPE-IN method, you CANNOT wash your hair for at least 48 hours after the extensions have been installed.  If at all possible I suggest 72 hours for the best possible bond but for my clients who have oily hair I know that can be hard so 48 will do.
